The Spirit of Indian Hockey

Hockey has deep roots in India. Introduced by the British army in the 1850s, it quickly became the country’s most celebrated sport. Local tournaments in Punjab and Calcutta shaped generations of players, and India dominated international hockey for decades with unmatched skill and speed.

In the 1970s, an Indian national player was passionate about the game but frustrated with the sticks available from international brands. Indian hockey had already achieved worldwide success – including 8 Olympic gold medals, 1 silver, and 4 bronze, plus numerous World and Asian championship titles.

Driven by the belief that Indian players deserved equipment built for their unique style of play, he started experimenting with materials and shapes – first in the family garage, then in barns, and eventually in a real factory.
